When an out of state resident first hears about Idaho the first thing they think of is normally potatoes. There is another reason so many people visit Idaho and it has to do with the amazing variety of rivers and streams and the white water rafting and other white water sports it offers.

From slow moving rivers to monstrous level 4 rapids can be seen while traveling though Idaho. One of my goals is to float the famous Jarbridge and Bruneau rivers in southwestern Idaho which enters Idaho at the Nevada border and offers scenery that will take your breath away. These rivers are a little known Idaho secret in Idaho but offer a golden opportunity to white water enthusiasts.
The Payette River in central Idaho opens the door to Payette River Trips and the area is less than an hour north of Boise. This is a popular destination for S.W. Idaho residents because of the variety of float trips available from mild beginner areas to expert class 4 rapids. I have floated this area for years and have experienced some of the best times of my life.

Meander a little farther north and you enter entirely different scenery and open the door to Salmon River Whitewater Rafting and one will see the famous "Big Horn Sheep" and other wildlife like deer along your journeys. Many of the cliffs you will encounter are so steep that only the big horn sheep and other wildlife can traverse the rugged cliffs. I have fished the salmon river near Riggins Idaho numerous times and the scenery is a haven to any photographer looking for spectacular scenery. You will certainly want to take your camera with you on one of these trips.
Visit Idaho and discover there is a whole lot more to this state than potatoes!
